876ft

Yesterday morning we jumped in the car before the sun was up and drove just under four hours to 5 miles north of Fayetteville, WV. from there we walked two miles to the New River Gorge Bridge which is open to base jumpers one day a year from 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. lovingly referred to as bridge day. We watched as people jumped from a platform and plunged anywhere from fifty to 750 feet before opening their chutes and coming to a jarring halt above the New River. (possible relation to the New School. Unknown but I'll check and get back to you) We spent 32 dollars on two gyros, curly fries and two fresh squeezed lemonades and 12 dollars on one x-large blue t-shirt with the silhouette of a bridge on the back and the proclamation that this t-shirt was from " 2008 bridge day celebration." after spending about three hours watching people jump and running around on the bridge, which was closed to traffic, we walked back the two miles to our car, jumped in, and started the just under four hour trip back up to Pittsburgh. all in all a successful day. We'll see where we are for next years bridge day.
